LOCATION
The cottage is situated in the forest above the small wine-growing village of Bobenheim am Berg (B. at the hill). Perfect as starting point for extensive walks in the Palatine Forest – along well signposted trails. The huts in the Palatine Forest are wonderful places to stop for a rest (Ungeheuersee, Lindemannsruhe, Burg Battenberg …).
The slope from the cottage down to the plain leads you soon to a sea of vines. From here quiet country lanes take you to the neighbouring wine-growing villages with their vineyards, taverns and wine-growers cooperatives that invite you for a rest or even, if you like, a wine-tasting session.
TRIPS & ACTIVITIES
The location of the Cottage in the Woods leaves nothing to be desired – whether you feel like hiking, sports, relaxing, wellness, dining or history - the Palatine has lots to offer!

PALATINE FOREST
Being the largest coherent wooded area in Germany the Palatine Forest alone fills numerous books, guidebooks and blogs with wonderful walking, hiking or biking trips. Climbing, riding, geocashing are possible as well and even paragliding is offered. A huge variety of activities in and around this nature reserve can be obtained here.

GERMAN WINE ROUTE
Not only will wine connoisseurs appreciate the Palatinate: walking through the hilly vineyards under the blue sky is simply fun - not only in the season of the famous wine walks. Who, however, is not disinclined to a good drop will enjoy the choice of high-class wines all the more. Topical info on the wine route can be obtained here.

BATTENBERG CASTLE
Just one of numerous castles in the Palatine, part of the three-castle-walk in the Leiningerland – and only 30 min of walking distance from the Cottage in the Woods. The public bar of Battenberg Manor Farm is open all year round – in summer the new roof terrace with its unique panoramic view of the Rhine Plain is definitely worth visiting. More information on Battenberg Manor Farm can be found here.

BAD DÜRKHEIM HEALTH RESORT
Bad Dürkheim is of course especially known for its wine festival and the world’s biggest wine cask. But even aside from the cheerful merriness of the wine taverns the city has a lot to offer: if you visit the pleasant Salinarium water park you can benefit from the long tradition of salt production in Bad Dürkheim. Get more information here.
